Pediatric care is designed around growth, development, and change. Children and kids require more frequent adjustments, devices that adapt as they grow, and solutions tailored to age-appropriate function. Just as importantly, successful pediatric care includes caregiver education, compliance support, and close coordination with the care team, elements that are far less central in adult treatment models.

How often will my child need follow-up appointments?

Follow-up schedules are individualized based on age, diagnosis, and growth velocity. Infants and toddlers are often seen every few weeks to accommodate rapid growth, while older children are typically monitored every few months to ensure continued fit, function, and progress toward treatment goals.Your clinician will communicate the proper follow up schedule with you and will help set those appointments for you.

Could wearing an orthosis or prosthesis delay my child’s development?

When prescribed and managed appropriately, orthotic and prosthetic devices support alignment, mobility, and functional development. While some devices may temporarily guide or limit motion, this is done intentionally to promote long-term outcomes, and children generally continue to reach developmental milestones successfully.
