Philosophy
Every child deserves the opportunity to move, play, explore, and experience the world with confidence. As a pediatric Orthotist, I believe that orthotic care is about much more than braces, it’s about improving quality of life, promoting independence, and helping each child achieve their own unique goals. With extensive training in the evaluation, design, fabrication, and fitting of custom orthotic devices, I work with individuals of all ages to address a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and orthopedic conditions.
I strive to build trusting relationships with children and their families by listening first, understanding their needs, and creating personalized solutions that fit both their lifestyle and their abilities. No two children are the same, and every orthosis should reflect the individuality of the child who wears it. I am committed to combining my clinical expertise with creativity, compassion, and collaboration with physicians, therapists, caregivers, and patients to develop treatment solutions that support each individual’s goals and lifestyle. I aim to provide orthotic care that is functional, comfortable, and empowering.
I stay current with advancements in orthotic technology and clinical practices through ongoing professional education and active involvement in the orthotics and prosthetics community. Their passion for helping patients achieve greater comfort, confidence, and mobility is at the heart of every patient interaction.
Above all, I believe that children are not defined by a diagnosis, they are defined by their personalities, their dreams, their resilience, and the joy they bring to the world. My role as a pediatric orthotist is to help remove barriers so they can spend more time doing what children do best: learning, playing, exploring, and simply being kids. Every milestone, no matter how big or small, is worth celebrating
Bio
I was introduced to the world of Orthotics and Prosthetics while I was in high school. My best friend’s mother was involved in a tragic farming accident that resulted in her having to have one of her legs amputated below the knee. I was fascinated by the medical professionals and the process in which she went through and immediately knew this was the career for me.
I attended Springfield College where I was able to spend 2 years at Shriners Hospital for Children (2005/2007) interning as an orthotics/prosthetics technician while working on my degree of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. Watching a child take their first steps in something I helped create became my motivation. There was no doubt, this was my passion.
After graduating from Springfield College in 2007, I joined forces with a local O&P company and worked as a technician, where I was able to fabricate multiple orthotics/prosthetics, including 2 new prosthetic legs for my friend’s mother before moving on to Northwestern University to receive my Certification in Orthotics (2010). I then joined forces with NOPCO/Boston Brace to complete my residency prior to passing my board exams. This experience was by far the most inspirational for me since they were passionately focused on pediatric care. I learned so much from my fellow coworkers here. They taught me that my role as a pediatric orthotist is not simply to fabricate braces, but to help unlock potential, foster independence, and empower children to participate fully in the moments that matter most.
In 2016 I joined forces with a company in Rhode Island that needed a traveling pediatric orthotist. I was now going into schools, therapy appointments, and in some cases patients’ homes to service them and their needs. This allowed me to grow and form my current team of referring physicians, and therapists all over the state of Rhode Island. I am a firm believer in the Team Approach and being able to work with these professionals has been invaluable.
Fast forward 10 years and I have now rejoined forces here in Rhode Island with my previous employer! With over 21 years of personal experience in the O&P field I strongly believe that at the heart of everything we do is the belief that a disability should never define a child’s potential. Success isn’t measured by the brace we provide, but by the life it helps a child live. Every child deserves the freedom to move toward their own extraordinary future.
