Kids just want to be like every other kid. They want to play, test boundaries and figure out the world. As a pediatric clinician, it's my job to help them try to achieve those goals. Each child brings their own challenges, ideas and personalities. This is what makes my job so fantastic. I get to be part of the formative years that shape these kids into the people they are ultimately going to become. I get to be the person that isn't telling them they can't do something, but the person helping them achieve their goals.
I began my experience in orthopedics as a Certified Athletic Trainer but quickly realized it wasn't the right fit for me. While working for a company in Baltimore that supplied soft goods to orthopedic doctors, I had an opportunity to collaborate with an orthotist. This experience introduced me to a new profession I had never considered, eventually leading to my BOCO certification. Over the years, I worked with various traditional O& P companies and returned to school for prosthetics. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for working with pediatric patients and I was good at it! I took a job with a company specializing in pediatric care and I haven't looked back since.
