I was born and raised in northeast Tennessee. I learned about the field of orthotics and prosthetics when I was doing a biomechanical gait analysis project my senior year of college. We were looking at the differences in gait between a dog who was missing both his front paws and a healthy dog of the same breed. He had prostheses made for his front paws, so we got to see that process and go to an orthotics and prosthetics office, where I really got to see what the job is about. I loved the fact that there are so many different aspects to it, between seeing patients, working in the lab, and interacting with the doctors. I went to school for orthotics in Newington, CT and then went to Atlanta, GA for my residency.
I met my husband in Atlanta and moved up to the Boston area in 2007, which is when I started working at Boston O&P. We enjoy living in this area and being close to the ocean and the mountains for a large variety of outdoor activities, such as sailing, hiking, kayaking, and cross country skiing.
