As a pediatric-focused clinician I pursue functional and rehabilitative solutions through a combination of creativity and evidence-based practice. I am passionate about education for other practitioners and caregivers of the patients I treat, and am subsequently involved with the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics in research, writing, and speaking. I love collaborating with other providers and welcome an interdisciplinary approach to ensure the most optimized patient care possible.
My background is in healthcare with a focus on adaptive technology and neurological rehabilitation. Throughout my career I've treated patients of all ages, settling on a pediatric-focused path in my clinical residencies. I believe this lends me a better sense of the benefits of early, detailed, and correct interventions in rapidly growing bodies.
Early in my career I recognized a gap in patient care when it came to patient education and understanding, particularly as patients enter adulthood and become more independent. I saw young adults struggling to know how to advocate for themselves, or who to turn to for help. This inspired me to place a heavy emphasis on both family and patient understanding and education. Even with my very youngest patients I explain what I'm doing every step of the way, and will always answer any question they can dream up!
Outside of work I enjoy volunteering in my church community, spending time with my friends and family, cooking, fitness, and all things outdoors.
