That was the case for Georgia\u2019s parents from the very beginning. Her mom, a registered nurse, noticed something different about Georgia\u2019s head shape and one eye that looked a bit bigger than the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 25%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At her 1-month check-up, they brought it up. The Unknown.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When they heard the news, their biggest fear was clear \u2014 surgery. Georgia was only 11 weeks old, and the thought of skull surgery on their tiny baby was overwhelming. But Georgia\u2019s parents didn\u2019t let fear stop them. They jumped into action, doing lots of research and making tons of phone calls \u2014 all in just a week and a half!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They learned that <strong>endoscopic surgery (a less invasive option)<\/strong> is usually done before 12 weeks of age. Georgia was diagnosed at 9 weeks, so time was ticking. They reached out to top hospitals and chose <strong>Nemours Children\u2019s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware<\/strong> for her surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Quick_Recovery_and_a_Lot_of_Support\"><\/span><strong>A Quick Recovery and a Lot of Support<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surgery might sound scary, but Georgia amazed everyone. She was back home within 24 hours, only needed Tylenol for pain, and had minimal swelling. Her two incisions healed beautifully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Helmeting_From_Challenges_to_Confidence\"><\/span><strong>Helmeting: From Challenges to Confidence<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After surgery, it was time for her helmet journey \u2014 a key part of shaping her head as she continued to grow.<br>This is where <strong>Boston Orthotics &amp; Prosthetics<\/strong>, now an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/opsb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OP Specialty Bracing<\/a> (OPSB) Clinic<\/strong>, came in. But with the right orthotist, those challenges got easier fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/opsb.com\/clinicians\/steve-slawinski-co-faaop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steve Slawinski<\/a><\/strong>, Georgia\u2019s orthotist at the OPSB Clinic, made a big difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her mom said, \u201cSteve is passionate about what he does, and Georgia felt that. She\u2019s strong, resilient, and full of joy.
